About Department:

Department of Political science, Lalgola College, started its journey since the inception of the college in 2006 with just two faculty members. The major/ Honours course was introduced in 2016. Another faculty member joined the league in 2017 and at present there are three faculty members. The Department is gradually marching towards its goal and now it is one of the most important departments of Lalgola College.With a bunch of fresh, inquisitive students and dedicated faculty members, the the department's quest for quality and knowledge is unbound and this quest goes beyond the formal syllabus, beyond the four walls of our classrooms. Students are encouraged to question, debate and raise issues within and beyond the syllabus. The pedagogy involves guiding the students to write dissertation and term papers beyond formal lecture based classes. Facilitators also use available ICT facilities for effective teaching and learning. Seminars and special lectures are also arranged from time to time for better learning experience.

Mission:

The Department of Political science, Lalgola College aims to inculcate civic values, Political culture and subject knowledge in the students to ignite the young minds for the achievement of a true democratic society where equality, fraternity, tolerance and justice will be the guiding force.

To be a centre of holistic education that makes its students responsible global citizens, promotes gender equality and environmental sensitivity.

  1. To equip students with in depth knowledge and intellectual tools to engage with the global and local issues and challenges arising in the realm of politics, political process and political ideas.
  2. To be a centre with a perfect balance between teaching and research activities.
  3. To provide an education that makes the students understand the need of the society and also make them industry ready.
