Alumni

At times the things we do regularly and the things that are part of our everyday life lose their importance in our lives. We do not realize how important something was until we lose it or it is completely gone. This is the basic sentimental idea behind having an alumni association. Apart from emotional gains, an alumni network has career benefits too. Alumni can create tremendous value for the colleges from which they graduate. Successful former students can provide a powerful form of testimonial on behalf of an institution’s brand. The body of knowledge and skill collected from passed out graduates could give the fresher’s a first-hand window into their future career. Here lies the importance of a registered alumni association and the idea of an alumni day which functions as a socializing event that could guide the new brains and learn from mistakes and experiences of their alma mater. Though we do not have a registered alumni association as our institution needs to be registered first under Society Act, they meet twice a year for the betterment of the institution. A few departments like Bengali, Education arrange such amalgamation programmes to bring students belonging to different fields under one common platform. Institution’s effort is to implement a mentormentee relationship management tool to help new entrants get in touch with experienced alumni willing to share their expertise and best practices in a given field.

Departments have become effective after IQAC formation to create their own student profile and take constructive measures to revive relationship with the previous batches. Donation of books to central and departmental libraries, conduct of skill development classes, sharing experiences of cracking competitive exams like NET/SET, forwarding news of job prospects and opportunities for imminent graduates using digital platforms and donation in cash or kind are some of the notable works by the alumni that immensely benefitted this institution.
